The impact of depression on prospective memory

Prospective memory (PM) refers to the ability to remember to perform an intended action in the future. PM deficits have recently been documented in depressed individuals. My research examines the attentional mechanisms underlying this impairment. I am also currently investigating the use of various strategies (e.g., implementation intentions, goal-maintenance training) to assist with PM.

Why my research is important

PM has been associated with instrumental activities of daily living and medication adherence in healthy as well as clinical samples. Therefore, understanding the underlying the mechanisms and the most effective intervention strategies have practical implications for those experiencing PM difficulties.
