Welcome | What is I/O Psychology?Practice | Teaching | Research

Welcome

Do you have the commitment to work with managers and employees to improve their organisations, the passion to explore ways to enhance the life of those at work, and the intellectual curiosity to engage with other outstanding colleagues who are excited about working towards these ends?

If so, you have something to offer I/O Psychology and I/O Psychology at UWA certainly has a lot to offer you.

Industrial/Organisational Psychology is a specialist area that applies psychological knowledge and skills to work, with the aim of improving organisational effectiveness and the quality of work life. You can learn more about this specialist area here.

At UWA we offer a range of accredited tertiary qualifications in I/O Psychology at the Masters and Doctoral-level designed to lead to professional registration and Specialist Title as an Organisational Psychologist. Our highly qualified and experienced teaching staff and our excellent support staff, provide an excellent opportunity for participants in our program to realise and develop the business value of their psychology skills.

Our strong links with industry through consulting and business-relevant research are resulting in an ever-growing cache of capable Alumni from our Degree programmes. In addition, we tap the broader resources of the University including the industry links, teaching and research capabilities of the UWA Business School in order to hone the business skills of our students.

The UWA School of Psychology is also the University sponsor of the WA Branch of the College of Organisational Psychologists (COPWA). The College of Organisational Psychologists is a national professional group within the Australian Psychological Society for those who practise, research, teach and/or simply have an interest in organisational psychology. COPWA's regular events (held at the UWA Club) bring together students, practitioners and researchers in Industrial and Organisational Psychology.

Our staff are sourced from industry, business schools and research institutions, and many are themselves graduates of our Degree programs. Graduates of our educational programs have taken up strategic internal roles as organisational change agents and management advisers, general management positions, research and business academic roles, and have developed their own private practices as psychologists consulting to industry.
