Since being established in 1930, as the second Psychology Department in Australia and the first to offer a full undergraduate course, the School has maintained its reputation for innovative research and teaching. The School has approximately 30 full-time academic teaching staff, 1200 undergraduates, and more than 80 students enrolled in higher degree programs.

    In 2011 UWA received the highest ranking in the "Psychology and Cognitive Sciences" category of the Commonwealth's research assessment exercise (ERA), and was one of only three Australian universities to be rated "well above world standard" in this category.
